I... I really don't...

[ Gosh, is it getting warm in here?

It is, actually, though not just because Arenvald is blushing. The sudden wash of embarrassment tripped a switch or something because he is... quite literally giving off heat. That in itself might bot be obvious, but the way he is literally glowing is quite obvious indeed. It's like a pleasant spring sunbeam took human form and decided to go clothes shopping. ]

[ Umm??? Sorry, she kind of has to glance away to avoid staring directly at him. ]

Arenvald?? Is this a normal thing for you?

[ At first, he doesn’t realize that Rion even said anything because he’s too busy staring at his hands. What is this…… why is this…… ]

No, I… this is new. I can safely say I’ve never glowed before in my life.

... Congratulations on your sudden talent?

[ At least it's better than Kou's. ]

[ A beat. ]

How do I turn it off?

[ She has no idea. ]

[ He casts Rion a flat look, though the effect is completely ruined by the fact that he’s still glowing like a miniature sun.

But, unlike his previous efforts to figure out his power, now he knows what it is, so mayhap he’ll have an easier time getting it to stop than he did getting it to start. He heaves a sigh and endeavors to concentrate – it’s not an easy thing, given that he is in the middle of a department store and garnering looks from the few shoppers around. He has to really focus to push the sensation of being stared at from his mind, and even then, he flickers a time or two before the light finally fades. ]

… I’m going to have to practice with that, I think.

A lot of us had a hard time controlling our powers from the start.

[ A sage, somewhat sympathetic nod. ]

Akira got stuck in my door once, and fell through a wall, and even if I could control mine, it still hurt a lot to use and I couldn't do it for very long. Practice really does help.

That… actually gives me comfort to hear. No one was master of anything in a day, after all. I’ll just have to work at it.

[ He smiles down at her, and though the literal glowing has stopped, his expression is bright. ]

Thanks again, Rion. It’s getting to be a day of new experiences.

All right.

[ He wanders off to poke around a bit before caving and asking one of the clerks where he needs to go. “Right this way, sweetie,” she says, which almost sets him glowing again, but he managed to tamp it down.

After that, it’s time for the trying on clothes portion of this shopping montage?? ]

[ It sure is. Rion will swoop in with pairs of pants and nice-looking shirts when something catches her eye, so he won't be free quite yet. ]

[ Just when he thinks he’s through, she somehow comes back with more clothes. It feels like she has him try on one of everything in the store, which is certainly not true. She probably left one or two things out.

By the end of it, he has quite the bundle in his arms. Good thing he’s been taking odd jobs around the city because all his credits are about to go. ]

Is shopping always this exhausting?

[ HE’S TIRED. ]

Is it? [ she sounds genuinely puzzled by this question. ]

I guess if you're new to it, maybe. But if you do it enough, you'll be able to build up plenty of shopping stamina and go for hours!

[ He might not survive that. But Rion, at least, looks very satisfied. ]

I think... I think this is enough to last me for a while, if it's all the same to you.

Still, this should go a long way in lasting you a good while anyway.

For sure. I still think I’ll stick to my armor if it looks like I’m going to be headed into something dangerous, but it’s nice to have some variety.
