[when the storm disperses and things finally start to settle down, Akira spends most of his time hanging around the medical tent. partially because he needed a bit of medical attention himself (nothing serious; minor scrapes and bruises acquired from flying debris), but also because it seems like a good, centralized location for him to meet up with the other circle members]

[for every familiar face that passes by, Akira lifts his head and gives them a slight, subtle nod. and, in Arenvald's case, he greets him with--]

Nice weather we're having today, huh?

[-- a really stupid joke]

[ Arenvald has been taking stock of familiar faces in his own way, and had been glad to see that most of his friends have made it out of the Storm without serious injury.

He returns Akira's nod as they pass, but that joke stops him in his tracks. Akira pls. ]

How long did it take you to come up with that one?

About two seconds after the storm disappeared.

[is Akira's neutral, almost bland repl. well, at least he's quick on the uptake?]

Well, you've a quick wit, if nothing else.

[ He flashes Akira a teasing grin, but it quickly smooths over into something more genuine. ]

Glad to see you're in one piece.

It's a charm point.

[Akira doesn't math that smile, but his brows arch in amusement, which probably makes it obvious he's trying to hold one back]

You too, by the way.

[ Well, since he’s stopped walking to wherever he was walking, he’ll just head over to Akira instead. ]

Where did you end up in all that mess?

[ It was hard to keep track of people in the scramble, honestly, so he’s glad when he finds another person he knows, unharmed and well. ]

[with a wave of his hand, Akira holds up a single index finger]

The first group. The one hammering pins into the ground.

[dangerous, but not as dangerous as those venturing into the eye of the storm]

It was-- [hm] An enlightening experience?

[. . . ha ha ha. where does he come up with these, anyway?]

As was I. It seems we just missed each other.

[ Akira pls. Arenvald can't not laugh at puns. ]

[hey!1 but Akira takes the criticism with good nature]

My book of lightning puns is a work in progress. [aha] I'll strike that one from chapter two, though.

[ Oh gods, help him. What has he started? ]

I’ll have to leave the puns to you. I’m not witty enough to keep up.

[ Not a lightning pun to be seen. He didn’t even try. ]

It's all right; I'm out of lightning puns, anyway.

[there are only so many in existence. he certainly can't write an entire book about them]

I'm certain inspiration will strike again sooner or later.

Do you know if everyone else fared okay out there? I haven't heard of anyone getting seriously hurt, which I'm grateful for.

[Akira's eyes sparkle in response to Arenvald's pun, mouth quirking into a smile. a smile that remains-- even if it loses its impish edge-- at that question]

I haven't heard or seen anyone get seriously hurt, either. I've been slowly checking in on people as I could, too.

The less casualties, the better.

[especially since it seems like the Struxta androids took the whole post-storm power surge far worse than any Circle member had taken getting up close and personal to, you know. actual lightning]

Full glad am I to hear that.

[ He lets his gaze wander around the interior of the tent a bit, trying to spot familiar faces among the Circle and the BGs. There are a few, and he smiles when he sees them. ]

I’ll admit, I don’t understand what happened out there, but I’m glad it all seemed to work.

Pretty sure the results are way more important than the theory, anyway.

[ He snorts. ] Well, at least I’m not the only one who’s lost.

But you’re right. Think we can call this one a job well done?

Absolutely.

[he says that emphatically, and with a victorious grin]

Aaaaand now we get a vacation.

By “vacation” do you mean a bit of respite back at the temple, or an actual vacation?

[ He could go for a trip to Costa del Sol right about now, with its white beaches and cerulean waters. Gods, now that he thinks about it, a trip to the beach sounds amazing, actually, especially after being surrounded by all this metal.

But, either way, he’d be happy. ]

At this point I might, but I was just thinking how nice a trip tot he beach would be right now.
